degewo is Berlin's leading housing association with around 1,100 employees, approximately 67,000 flats and apartments in its residential portfolio and more than 6,000 in external real estate portfolios. As a municipal housing association we are present in all of Berlins districts and are proud to bear responsibility for the city and its residents. Together – we can make change happen: that is why we invented the first »degewo Innovation Award: Smart Up the City 2017« for new technologies, services and business models in real estate and real estate management.

Who is there?

Entrepreneurs and start-ups who are active in the field of smart city, smart building or PropTech and who are developing or implementing innovative projects for the real estate sector were able to apply. 69 sent us their ideas and business plans and let us know how their offer can help us.

The Committee - Who's in charge?

The jury will find the best start-ups and founders in a multi-stage process. Jury members are Christoph Beck, CEO degewo Björn Böhning, head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery and network spokesman for the SPD Michael Brehm, Partner of Redstone digital Mark Hoffmann, founder and CEO of the digital publisher Vertical Media Sven Gábor Jánszky, founder and chairman of the think tank 2b AHEAD Nikolai Roth, founder and managing director of the online broker Maklaro and operator of the scene blog

What's the prize?

Initially, relationships and insights. You will gain access to potential clients and investors as well as an insight into the work of Berlin´s leading housing association.

Moreover, coaching and mentoring. Finalists receive a full day of coaching with mentors and experts to optimize the pitch and business model.

Finally, some money and great opportunities. The winner will be granted a prize money of 3,000 EUR and a pilot project in cooperation with the degewo.
